It is hard to ignore the fact that when history shines its light on this day and age of the game of baseball the word steroids will cloud everything. Barry Bonds broke the all time home run record yet outside of his native San Francisco, where he played for the Giants at the time he broke the record, no one cared. The commissioner of baseball was not at the game the record was broken and the person that caught the ball did not get millions from that record breaking ball when he sold it and the guy that bought it from the fan put a big asterisk on the ball and then donated it to the Baseball Hall Of Fame.

Now there is the ball that broke the home run record in the Hall Of Fame with a huge asterisk on it to denote the shame that baseball players have brought on themselves in this era. So what is a young player to do for a baseball motivational print? It appears as though the baseball motivational prints of today are featuring either players from a by gone era or players that may not necessarily be known for any great baseball records but are also not known to be on steroids. It is a shame when players in a game decide to taint their game so much that even the baseball motivational posters that are coming out are affected. Yet they keep doing it.

A baseball motivation poster is supposed to give a young player the inspiration to want to work hard to hit the ball further or play the game better and it seems as though many of today's youth are smart enough to realize that steroids are dangerous and they want to get their talent the old fashioned way, from hard work. There was a great sign in the crowd during one of the games that Barry Bonds played in during the season that he broke the home run record that read "Babe Ruth did it while on hot dogs and beer."

So it makes you wonder if motivational baseball posters should contain images of someone widely accused of using steroids or if a motivational baseball print of today should feature a completely out of shape person who was known as much for his chain smoking of cigars as he was his natural ability to hit a baseball. A motivational baseball poster should give a young player the inspiration they need to be their best and maybe leave it up to them what path they choose to become their best. One would hope that a motivational baseball poster of hitting champion George Brett would inspire a child to want to do things with hard work like Brett did. But if motivational baseball prints of Barry Bonds are big sellers then that could be a sign of trouble ahead for baseball.

Barry Bonds no longer plays for the San Francisco Giants and the man that just became the all time home run king in baseball announced he still wants to play a couple of more seasons but no one is trying to sign him. Is baseball doing its own version of punishment on Barry Bonds or is that motivation baseball print that features Bonds' image too much shame for even baseball to handle? You know who would make a great person to put on a baseball motivation poster? The next all time home run king Ken Griffey Jr. Once Griffey breaks Bonds' record maybe baseball can get back on track.
